K.Rowling. What does [Harry] Potter mean to you?Samantha Shannon (SS): Harry Potter was a huge part of mychildhood. It was- it was / the- sort of the first major / book seriesthat ? I read, / ? and / I absolutely loved it. I kne- I- / you know, Iknew all the characters’ backgrounds, I knew everything about thebooks. / ?And / I love J. K. Rowling, and I- I’m- I find her a hugeinspiration, especially ? as she’s managed to create this wonderful,detailed wizarding ?world. /?And that’s actually why the comparison’s been so uncomfortablefor me, / ‘cause I think if you say, you know, “the next J. K.Rowling” or “the new J. K. Rowling,” it suggests ? that there’ssomething wrong with the original J. K.
